The history of Båstadgruppen

Båstadgruppen has a rich history stretching back over a century. As early as 1907, the foundations of our company were laid, rooted in the iconic Båstad slipper. Since then, our core values of quality and expertise have been at the heart of our business. Read more about our exciting journey and development below.

1907 - Nailed wooden slippers

The business with nailed wooden slippers (the Båstad slipper) was indirectly the start of something we are far from seeing the end of.

1985: Safety shoes

You could say that the modern Båstadgruppen (earlier Båstads industrier) started in 1985 when sales of safety shoes began. What then started on a small scale has today grown to a range of over 100 models - and then we only count our own shoes Monitor.

1986: Matterhorn

In 1986, the company Matterhorn started making jackets.

1991: Sandryds

Sandryds began its journey in 1991 with the South West and Smila brands with the aim of raising the profile of companies.

1998: Top Swede

In 1998, Top Swede was founded with the ambition to be a new player in workwear for tough jobs.

2003: Birkenstock

Birkenstock Scandinavia AB is acquired by Båstadgruppen. Much of the knowledge and relationships we have today were established in connection with the acquisition.

2006: Monitor

The Monitor brand is created.

2015: Båstad Norge AS and Båstad Danmark Aps

Today, Båstadgruppen also has operations in the Baltic States, Germany and the Netherlands. We are developing rapidly at home, but are thinking long-term about continental Europe.

2019: Storskogen Industrier AB

Storskogen is a long-term owner that operates a diversified group of profitable companies with a strong market position. This gives Båstadgruppen a stable foundation for the future.

2019: South West is acquired

Sandryds with the brands South West and Smila Workwear is acquired. Their pioneering work in digital tools and sustainability has taken the entire company to a new level.

2020: ATG gloves

Båstadgruppen enters into an exclusive agreement for the distribution of ATG's products in the Nordic region. Their Maxi range is the first choice for most people who need work gloves.

2021: Top Swede is acquired

When Båstadgruppen acquired Top Swede, the range was supplemented with functional workwear for tougher jobs and employees with a clear straightforward attitude.

2022: Matterhorn is acquired

Båstadgruppen acquired Matterhorn. In addition to a well-established brand with first-class outerwear, the competence was strengthened with specialist knowledge of jackets and trousers.

2023: Guardio Safety is acquired

In May 2023, Båstadgruppen acquired Guardio Safety AB, which owns and distributes helmets and earmuffs for professional use.

2024: Båstadgruppen - A house of strong brands

In the fall of 2024, our own brands will be relaunched with new brand concepts and identities. The aim is to engage the target group with a new, modern and memorable look.
